I am playing the 1941 campaign as Axis against the AI, just to get a feel of the new game mechanics.

After a couple of turns, I tried to transfer an air group (I./KG 2) closer to the front. As target I chose a level 2 airbase, could be Lepel, but not sure. As it happens, the game complained about the lack of fuel and ammo at the target airfield, so I left the "Planned Transfer" pending. Thought, may be next turn after logistic the transfer will be completed.

So it happened indeed. But, surprise surprise, I found I./KG 2 not in Lepel or any other Axis controlled airfield, but in NW Leningrad, sure enough with zero planes. Sending the defected group to reserve worked even across front lines. First I thought it's just another intentional feature, after all there HAVE been desertions throughout the war. May be single planes, but a whole group? In the event log I read nothing about desertion, but just:

"I./KG 2 air group transfers to NW Leningrad Air Base"

I'm pretty sure I didn't order THAT transfer, and even if I did by accident (I'm still learning the ropes), the game shouldn't let me. [:)]

What version are you using? This bug was addressed several public beta versions ago, so hopefully you're using the official version. If you are using a recent public beta, please attach a saved game just before you ended your turn and they went to the Soviet airbase. You can zip and attach here, or email it to 2by3@2by3games.com. I don't use a public beta version, So far I patched up only if the updater said I should, so it's probably official. The version I am playing with is 1.00.11 and the updater doesn't find a newer version (it's from April though).

If it's fixed in 1.01.09B, I may patch it manually. It's probably better to apply fixes right away and not wait for the next official version.

Thanks for confirming, this bug was squashed in the betas. So far 1.01.09 is looking good and could go official in the next few weeks (knock on wood). Of course there are still bugs in it, but there are many more things that are fixed and better than things that are worse. [:)] Glad you're enjoying the game.
