Map editor

Hi

have a couple questions

1. I edited some roads on the map, but can't figure out how to exit the map editor. Can't figure out a way to save the changes either. Any input?
2. Can't seem to be able to edit railways, I only can change the directions but can't for example substitute doible line for single.

On 1, I can exit the map editor by using the same key that enters the map editor (in the case of my keyboard, I press the "~" key located just under Esc twice), afterwards the main editor menu can be accessed.

On 2, I know that the artwork for all hexes can be exported to a csv file, edited and then imported back. The double line railway arts to be used are set out in the last six columns of the csv file. I am not sure whether changing the data in these columns will also change the type of railway in the hex, or just only the artwork. If you are interested, you may do some testing.

I'd guess that railway type is stored inside hex data, not hex artwork data.

I messed around in the map editor today creating new towns and custom hex art. The changes made to the map in the custom scenario do not "hold" when saved. Am I missing something or is this blocked?

Scenarios with locked generic data are currently not possible, our programmer is currently working on the Editor to get this function back to working order.
The only way to get this done is to make these changes in generic data but you should copy your installation first and do the changes on this copy.
If you add new location in generic data they are transcluded to all scenarios but typically require another change there to set the player controlling them.
In generic data new locations are saved in cities, any factory like manpower is saved in factory file

if you add new locations you should also save hexes so the location gets a proper Hex City ID assigned.
AFAIR Hex also stores rail connections but only the basic straight connection style and single vs dual-track. Any change to rail style (curves, end points, etc) are saved in Hex Art.

No it's ` key to edit map, but I can't edit hex, only hexart.

For example, trying to add a railroad. R shortcut, enter 4 for NW, enter 1 for type, nothing is being added

you have to add them in terrain section first, then you may change their look/style under tiles

Thanks, I got the location to save and "hold" using the generic data.

I also added a lake which is "holding" but if I change or customise a town icon it does not appear on the map correctly until I got into map edit mode "~". Maybe its the same issue for panzer51.

Also would I be correct in saying that editing terrain is blocked, say changing heavy forest to swamp?

I can't see where you can add rail. I go to terrain but I can only edit 2 things, Base Art, and Terr Art. Rail is missing altogether. Can you post a picture from your editor for example adding a railroad heading NW from (174,163) towards Lomzha?

So decided to return to WITE2, I suppose everything more or less finalized? Still can't edit map hexes. Will this be added or this is permanently locked?
