Yo All,
Pick 10 platoons (1939 to 1945) and what they would be? You can give example by mission(what you would use in defend, assault, etc) or what you would like for all situations.
Just curious. Thank you.

If I needed some fast infantry who I wanted to hit the rear of an enemy. (Provided that the enemy is unaware of them) I would sure as hell use Motorcycle troops.

They are fast, and can pack a bit of a punch. Good for taking out undefended Motars and Arty.

Assuming you meant Infantry, then I am taking US Rangers, for attack, defense, infiltrating, paradropping, cooking, cleaning, attitude adjustments, shuffleboard, a$$ kicking, or whatever.:D

Armor? 10 platoons of Kitties! Growl. Grrrr. Purrrrrr. Purrrrrr. KABOOM!!:p

Well, Rangers of course, but SS infantry are really nice too. They can rally out of anything. I like them in the woods, I like them in the desert, I like them in the smoke... just about anywhere and they will do you proud.

The Marines !

The Marine Assault Squad if you want straight up fire power, they have a Bazooka, a flamethrower, and a scatchel charge.

In the defense, Russian Guards, Japan SNLF (18men packs a punch) and Marines F squad (highly accurate and almost always rally)

Infiltrators, Rangers, British Commandos, Marine LR patrol

And a good all around, regular German infantry w/grenade launcher. These guys are normally ignored but should be IMHO.

The elite Italians are good as well ( fire contol of 5 )

In the snow, Finland they can even teach the Russians a thing or two, this is going to drive RB nuts, but I like the German Ski as well( their grenade launcher can kill those open topped TDs very well )

Canno Fodder, Russian Conscripts, those Russian Tank riders begins with a T, I believe and Calvary all countries ( cheap, fast, can assault and cause lot of problems )

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Rangers
Raiders - both for obvious reasons.

Panzergrenadiers - because they will deliver, especially against SO.
Finnish jägers - quick (compared to regular infantry), deadly and can take a lot of punishment

Much of the British armored recon

Tanks? Don't ask... ;)

and last but not least - E N G I N E E R S. :p

German ski troops! NOoooooooo!

V2: You have a point on the other ones though. I never go anywhere as the Russians without a couple Conscripts: Soviet Marines, Guards or Paras say, "I wonder if this field is safe to enter? Hey, Conscripts! Run over there will ya?" He he he.

And, now you tell me about the elite Italian infantry, ONLY after I've selected my force against your Japs! I didn't like that I was stuck with alot of those Brixla (or whatever) mortars and trucks that came with the Bersaglieri (or whatever) formations IIRC.

Not to all, if you want to make sure to get RB to reply to anything just mention Ski Troops LOL

The Bersaglieri, are good troops, the Sezimo Gamma and Adritia, and the Iccursion squads (fire control of 5, but only 6 men)

I would have taken the Italions but I figured I know them a little better than you and I want to learn the Japaness. But OH MY I did expect a fight in the Desert:eek:

I really love engineers! I'd also go with some bad SS boys and Rangers. A platoon of those bad SpAA quad .50's! So Guards are great too, tough fighters. Haven't played any other countries deep enough to know. What are these "elite" Italian infantry guys called? :)

Not sure if there are any others, but the mountain divisions are definitely Elite, so that'd be the Bersaglieri troopers..

rangers: best against inf because of the garand rifles and even good against tanks because of the bazooka ( which is a little overpowered in the game ).

while germans troops usually have better fire power because of their better MG (34/42) perhaps on longer range the german sare better against other inf targets while on short to med. range the rangers or US paratroops are better.... same goes for russian paratroops.

SNLF, 18-man squads, Type 100 SMG (I'd kill for the Bergman their Engineers carry, though), Type 99 LMG, 50mm Knee Mortar, and Type 91 Grenade. They fight to the last man, and God save anyone if they get to Melee. Even if they don't Banzai, they'll rip the enemy a new one. I love the variety of arms. A rifle and an LMG will poke people from afar. An LMG and a light mortar will HURT people from afar. Then up close... well... that SMG, LMG, and Grenade would be enough, but the mortar comes in handy there too. (I can just envision some poor sucker taking a gut shot from one of those.)

There are better soldiers, there are better equipped troopers, and there are better men who are better equipped. But if you couldn't tell by my name, I'm a touch enamoured with the Far East. ;)
