Having trouble readjusting BP convoy lines.

I have been having a bit of trouble redoing convoy lines... bear with me, as I am adding several attachments, hopefully in the correct order:

Screen_1 shows that there are plenty of unused convoy points (keeping in mind that the current USA-Russia convoy line already uses 4 in East Coast and North Atlantic.

Screen_2 shows the current route for Detroit to Moscow convoy... Notice is goes through East Coast, North Atlantic, St. Vincent, West Med, East Med and on through land route to Moscow. I want to change this to the East Coast, North Atlantic, Faroes Gap, Norweigan Sea, Artic Ocean.

Screen_3 shows the altered route in read words. To do this, I left click St. Vincent name on route list and then left click Faroes Gap, norweigan sea, Artic; thus, getting the altered route.

Screen_4 shows the route as altered... I double left clicked the Artic to get this. Then, I proceeded to recompute the route.

Screen_5 is after recomputing the route... it has reverted back to the original.

So, how do I make a route change stick?

Here is the game file... note, I have put many of the CW resources on idle to make room for the US-USSR convoy route. Still, they insist on going through the Med no matter what I do!

the production planning does not work optimally

this is a know issue of the team, but im sure you agree that its not really a priority right now

we priorities serious bugs, and AI right now.

I´m sure steve will go though production planning in the future and make the form easier to use.

(its not a issue of the form not being able to do it, its an issue with the form being to difficult to manage)

not sure if steve have a redesign planned. but im sure there will be some changes to the form in the future

solution:
a fix would be to give CW some synth or some more convoys to balance out the issue

I t might be that there is a culprit somewhere that mess with your change. I will try and take a look at your save tomorrow if the issue is not solved by then.

You are doing production planning in the naval movement phase.

I have discovered that it only pays to change convoy routes from the Preliminary Production phase up to, but emphatically not including, Final Production Planning.

If you make a change there, it is much more likely to stick. No promises, but more likely.

This gamesave is from the naval movement phase. This means that I can't access the Chinese and Soviet production planning. To get things right, one can only do so when all major powers on one side are accessible.

I never do anything with production planning during impulses. I simply calculate the number of convoy points needed and that's it. Now, when the preliminary production phase starts, you can get things to work correctly. I always get optimal production.

Thank-you... I will let you know if thinks can be altered in production. It does make planning a little harder when you cannot set routes when you are moving convoys about. As is, I have 4 convoys in the Nor sea and Artic that are doing nothing and may not be able to do anything during production.

Agree with Peter. Never try to optimize production during any phase except pre-production. The program does work but it takes patience and practice. I believe there is a thread about all of this a few months back.
Players get into difficulties when many lending of resources are implemented. Like, lending UK BP's to Free France may take double the convoys for the CW because you first have to import the resources into the UK to produce the BP and then export them out to Free France so it takes double convoys in some sea areas.
Remember - lending of resources/BP's take priority before anything else can be used by convoys.

Peter may add to this as he is an expert on this subject using MWIF.

I wont explain because I dont want to be harassed, but I disagree. It doesn't work effciently no matter what you do. Even with extensive patience and practice.

And i think this is a Major bug that should be treated way before AI.

I agree with 90% of what you say here. Or maybe 95% or even 99%. My only caveat is that I think myself and handful of other experienced MWiF users have mastered MWiF production and convoys and can probably 95% to 99% of the time get things working the way we want them to work.

With that said, for me at least, it took a LOT of trail and error to achieve this skill. And, at times it takes way too much time to make things work like I want. I honestly dread what I will have to go through and "fix things" after: (1) adding trade agreements or (2) taking CP losses (e.g., from sub attacks). It can be maddening, even for me.

A MAJOR compliant, or headache, I have is when, for example, I have 1 RP and 1 factory idle and the unused convoys screen shows me that all I need to do is to add 1 CP in a given sea area to have a "unused" CP line the could take the unused RP to the idle factory. And then when I do add 1 CP I go back to the production screen and MWiF has rerouted a RP that previously wasn't using that sea area through that sea area and I'm have 1 idle factory and I have a different set of unused CPs.

For reasons that baffle me I don't know why a top priority wasn't given to a capability that allowed users to route a given RP to specific factories AND locked that before moving to the next pair. Which such a capability, the user could have been made to take care of trade RPs first before being allowed to move on to non-traded RPs. In my humble opinion if this sort of capability had been a top priority and been present from the beginning a whole lot of the fan base we saw on this forum 10 to 15 years ago would probably still be around.

It's a shame really, because MWiF if an outstanding game. One of the best in my opinion. It just saddens me that some may people are turned off/away from playing MWiF because of production.

Since there is ”set dice roll” option I have been hoping ”set BPs” option too… would be nice to fix things just adding few BPs.

That would be a patch only, but a very welcome patch, considering.

I agree that production planning is the most difficult part of the game to get right. I also "cheated" in the past if I would not get a build point when I was sure I should get it (using beta testers debug tools, one can create build points).

But somehow, I got it to work. It takes a lot of time and effort. I can get optimal production at any time in the game now. You don't need to cheat, you need to grasp the logic of the forms. And that is the challenge you are facing.

I've stated sometime ago that, provided one enters a gamesave here at the start of preliminary production phase of a non-modded game, I can give instructions on how to get to maximum production.

Thing is: it's the human mind which messes thing up for us, not the computer...

So there is no reason to make any patch.

I will post my save when I get to the production part... if I cannot get those BPs where they are supposed to travel.

I should add, by the route I wish them to take. The current route causes cp to be wasted and unused and exposes the BP to more danger.
