That map also covers much of the Battle for the Reichswald. I may look at cutting out the section just east of Nijmegan and extend it further east to cover Goch, Calcar, Weeze and Udem if that is doable. Might be an interesting Canadian Army battle.

I'd see more marshes, flooded polder land, like it was back then. That ensures (like it did in 1944), that 30th Corps had to use just one major road (Hell's Highway) for their advance.

I have been looking at the Battle of the Reichswald. I am not convinced it would make a good scenario. It was an overwhelming attack on very narrow frontage in horrific terrain against small but heavily fortified troops. The terrain was a major obstacle. On day one, only Churchills were able to traverse the deep mud. I have one book on it which I am skimming. I think there may be some armored action at the end. It might make an interesting game from the Canadian side but I don't think a German player would find it interesting. Also one Canadian div was doing amphibious ops which are not modeled in the game. Also there are different levels of fortifications including extensive anti-tank and infantry trenches-covering entire front. Smoke, hours long sustained preparatory artillery bombardment and heavy bombers were factors. I think the game would need additional features to cover this type of action well.

You are probably right, Jagger. I have some familiarity with it only due to John Tiller's PzC "Scheldt '44" game. It was interesting primarily due to the work JT and WDS put into the product. But if you change your mind, the game "Notes" and some other documentation I believe are freely downloadable from the new Wargame Design Studio's site. Best wishes!

Oh, and forgive me for forgetting: Thank you, Davide, for this new map for real scenario designers to use, and for me just to play with. [;)]
