Pocketed Soviet Forces Disappearing

I have noticed that there are not as many Soviet units in the pockets that I have created in Turn 1 come turn 2. The pockets stay isolated, and it is my understanding that these units cannot be disbanded. What am I missing? Can the AI teleport units out of these pockets?

If a unit is really weakened and has low TOE and low morale, they just disintegrate during the logistics phase, saving you the effort of having to eliminate them yourself.

Aha! That is right. I forgot all about that. Thanks, Rosencrantus. I can now rest easy knowing that there are not tens of thousands of escapees frolicking in the swamps...

Also units can be merged, I'm not sure if AI can use it.

AI perfectly knows how to unite the surrounded troops and often uses it!
