Airbase Transfer from Eastern US

Post by actrade »

I have a question I haven't been able to find that is driving me crazy. On turn 2, I receive VP-71 and VP-72 in the Eastern US. I transfer them to the West Coast by rail. After 2 days, they show up at their location and I understand they are on rail, but where? Is there a way to see aircraft being transferred this way? If I do a search in game, they are simply gone as far as I can tell, in some netherworld until they pop out the other side of the transfer. Am I missing something here?

Indeed.

System treats them as Reinforcements to new base, thus doesn't show them marching like land units. In reality, they'd fly from base to base, but that'd be unnecessary coding when already able to use reinforcement coding.

Much the same thing happens when you transfer a air group from the Eastern USA overseas to say, Capetown in South Africa. Except instead of disappearing from the map for a few days they're gone for over a month traversing the Atlantic. But you can spot their arrival date in Capetown on the group availability list.

The option is also there to transfer air groups to the United Kingdom or Port Stanley, but I don't think I ever have.

The same is true for fragments created from disabled planes when executing an air transfer from a base located on a rail line.
