A bit of a noob question, but where can I find the template for each nation's satellites? I can't find them in the import from file option.

Do you mean how to add a satellite? Or do you mean using the import function to bring a custom satellite into the game?

Select Editor in the top menu bar, Unit actions, then add satellite
