ACW2 and TEAW not working anymore / Steam de-installed

I have 2 AGEOD games, one bought at steam the other while in a normal shop.
I decided not to use steam anymore and de-installed it, how can I get the game now working (in this case "to end all wars")
I tried to install a mod for the other games and it gave errors, so de-installed the mod, but now the game does not work anymore. I tried to re-download and re-install the game (I registered the game at steam too but not bought there) but it sill does not work (in this case "ACW2"). I especially like the civil war game and wanted to play it again but does not load anymore.
