BB vs CV

I had a Japanese BB/CA fleet that I was able to put at one hex of an USA CV/BB fleet.
I have done one attack that has sunk a CA and badly damaged a BB.
But nothing for the CV. Is the CV not an interesting target?
Is it linked to this?
Change targeting in naval combat - Air attacks - CV = 6 -> 10, BB 4 -> 2.... sub attack CV 6/9 -> 10/15
I am curious to know the odds here because I was disastify by my performance.

A CV has the highest target profile when attacked by air (10), but a very low one ("1" IIRC) when attacked by surface ships (Probably to show that other ships are putting themselves in the way, like at Samar, to protect them). CVs also have high profile when attacked by subs (and even more so if damaged already).
So I believe that in this case the CA and BB sacrificed themselves to help the CV escape (as they should if following orders and their duty!).

They screened the CV as any intelligent commander would.

So it was a bad idea. I should have finished them off with subs but there was none in range. [:(]

The Japanese fleet was not interdicted during the attack?
I've never been able (so far) to get a Surface Action Group to actually attack a CV Group.

It was interdicted by a sub that did not do any damage... [:D]
On a side note, I think naval interdiction code should check FIRST which fleet has the better chance to do damage. And then, take this fleet to perform the naval interdiction.
I am under the impression this is completely random at this stage.

I'm not aware of any surface group from either side that was able to attack a CV group during the war.
Perhaps, I am wrong.

I am speaking of the naval interception of my BB/CA fleet. The game intercepts it with a sub fleet. It would have been better to intercept it with the CV/BB fleet imo.

It happened, but not in the Pacific [;)]

And what about the future, CVs are completely untested, will they be like the BBs of the past?

And I'm pretty sure at Samar in the Pacific. (but CVEs, not "adult" CVs).

You are right, 1 CVE sunk and 5 by BBs and CAs. The St.Lo was also finally sunk, but by kamikazes.
