I played almost all evening CS vietnam and I wondering
does the close air support works ?
I have checked the rule
nothing is greyed out in the dialog list and
I see no bomb marker
I play
The Mauling - Battle of Ap Nha Mat

You'll see in the picture below that you have two parts to the Close Air Support:
1. You have the pool of aircraft available in the Close Air Support Dialog
2. You have the airstrikes that are available during the current turn. Right now it says "0" Air Power, which means that none are available to call. You will have to wait until they come available to you at a later turn.

ok Airpower numbers can change every turn
I understand when you have close air support checked
you cant use normal air support - classic CS airsupport

Yes, that is correct. It is one or the other, not both.

Hello Fritz Dangerously, good question, let me answer in detail in case other players will be asking this as well.
[*] First, for Enhanced Close Air Support, said Optional Rule must be toggled ON. Otherwise, legacy Airstrikes it is.
[*] (Red arrow) To select a CAS mission, click at the CAS icon with a F4 Phantom icon to open up the CAS Dialog. (The old Bomb icon is there for legacy Airstrikes when ECAS not ON, due to technical issues in how Toolbar is drawn we cannot unfortunately toggle icons on and off the bar)
[*] (1) To look at the ordnance the various CAS missions are equipped with, double click at a select CAS mission row in the dialog to open up the detailed ECAS window.
[*] (2) To select and plot the CAS mission itself, return to CAS Dialog, select a row by clicking at it, and once selected, left click at a map hex you want to place the mission at. That's it.
[*] Note that you need Air Power points available, one per air mission, to plot a CAS (or Airstrike if playing without the optional rule) mission.

Yes, for this there's the number of availalble airpoints per each turn's Command Report in the beginning of your turn. CAS Dialog shows all available mission at max, Airpoints in the Command Report then available missions as of that particular turn.

I see Jason answered as well while I was preparing my post. I have the "Old Continent shift" for support, but he's a night owl for sure! All good, Ole?

the manual tell about a icon - just for info

I think its this part I miss - but I cant see anything in the manual about it
thanks a lot - I check it out
great game

Good catch, I agree the manual should have a bit more detail as how to set up an ECAS mission (Chapter 3.5.2), as it is from CAS Dialog you select the mission, not from the pop-up dialog showing the ordnance.
It is a living manual, I will ask Jason to add some more detail there!

I've updated the manual to reflect Ole's questions

A new user-requested feature: Indicating aircraft ordnance in the top-level Close Air Support Dialog.
Immediately following the unit strength field ([2]), a new field (in the screenshot below, highlighted) showing: [G]uns,
ombs, [R]ockets, [N]apalm, etc.
As before, you can double click on the selected aircraft to summon the detail box, where the Ordnance is spelled out in full.
Available in CSVN 1.01 (and thereafter).
