Arty and air defence in high cover areas

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi all,

Have also been wondering about arty and air defence effectiveness when firing from from deep forest and built up areas such as cities, towns etc. Like many players I tend to put these types of units in locations where there is a lower chance of them being spotted. But shouldn't this restrict their firing arcs also??

So 2 questions:

1/ Does FCRS reflect this today??

2/ Will it be reflected in SS tomorrow??

Thanks! [:)]

So we're at war with the Russkies eh?? I suppose we really ought to invade or something. (Lonnnng pause while studying the map)
Hmmmm... big place ain't it??

Rob,

For #1, I don't recall 100% but there was some interaction with LOS. AD vs Air Strikes had their own routine and dealt with the higher altitudes.

For #2, we are doing some additional modeling for AD with the assumption that AD teams/units will try to position themselves to have an effect LOS to do their job.

For both, Arty is less impacted in the indirect role. Direct fire LOS would be impacted by the cover. Again there is an assumption that units are positioned to do their jobs.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
