So If I am facing 1:4 odds is that 1 loss to 4 of theirs or the other way around?

Also is it smarter to soften up enemies with ranged before sending troops in? I am new to this genre and not quite sure on a strategy yet.. Thanks all

4:1 (with a pinch of salt) means the enemy loses 4 times the troops you lose. And yes, use artillery to soften up the enemy; as German, use your artillery to silence the enemy artillery. Why? You want to avoid artillery intercepts at all costs.

If you're attacking 1:4 is bad and will show red... 4:1 is good and will show green.

So a couple more noob questions. What are the red circles with red line though it on map mean?

Once I take a VP location do I need to have a unit stay in there to keep getting the points every turn?

Stavelot scenarios: Anyone have any tips as axis? Seems like allies are loade with a lot more troops than me? Should I play cards to get more and if so which ones do you recommend?

There is an early forum thread on the Stavelot scenario which gives you all you need to know to win the Stavelot scenario. Up to you if you want to check it out now or wait until you win on your own. https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.a ... t&#5119185

The scenario is really not that difficult vs the AI but some of the tactics/concepts required are a little advanced for a novice player. I remember some of those smaller scenarios were very good at teaching specific lessons which came in very handy in larger scenarios.
