Spotting on higher difficulties

How does it work exactly? So, when the ai has a spotting bonus of +2 for example does every unit, town, ship etc. have a +2 spotting radius and do trenches still block sight?

I believe this is correct, spotting ranges just increase by +2 across the board, but all other spotting rules remain in effect, e.g. trenches would still block further spotting as before and so on.

Thank you for your reply. This matches what I have observed in my games so far, since the ai gets ambushed when moving over trenches.
