Playing as allies and was wondering what are the best repair ports west of pearl??? I'm trying to strenghtin darwin as japs are starting to bomb it and its pretty beat up, at the same time slowing but surely trying to defend and build up port moresby & bouganville. I have to keep using sydney for repairs or my only other option is to keep lugging all the way back to pearl, and did i mention theres action all around the gilberts & marshalls so is sydney the best port that i can use or is that the best i'm gonna find???

I'm afraid Sydney (at size 30) is about all there is in the middle of the map. All the other ship repair facilities in Australia are smaller. There is Auckland in New Zealand. but it's only a 15. Later in the war you get some mobile floating drydocks, but they are slow and take a long time to tow into position. Plus, their capacity is somewhat limited.

The war in the Pacific was fought in an undeveloped tropical wilderness for the most part so it's hardly surprising that decent dry dock facilities are rare. All the best repair ports are in the continents off to the sides of the map or in Japan. Well, there is Pearl, but it can get overloaded easily if you are not careful.

It's a shame that the Allies can't expand repair shipyards like the Japanese can....GP

For late war, Manila has a shipyard of 20. Soerabaja has a small one with 8. Singapore has one of 50.

You can take Nagasaki. It has a large shipyard.

Early in the war, you're going to be stuck with returning to the west coast after taking care of all the SYS damage and trying to get the Major Damage down to 50.

Just remember to rotate ships out of the shipyard at Pearl if they are refitting. You need the shipyard to begin refitting, not to continue it.

Hong Kong has a good size shipyard....GP

I often send the slow US battleships damaged at Pearl Harbor to the US East Coast repair yard once they are ambulatory. One, because it's the biggest.(300) Two, because being tucked so far away from the action the temptation to use them prematurely is reduced. They're really best in the endgame as bombardment platforms. They can go through all their lengthy AA and radar upgrades there as well.
