Manual or AI depots?

In my games I have always used ai depots for logistics as I thought they were good enough.
Is this true? Does manual control of depots really do a better job? What are the advantages of manual control over the AI? Or is the ai good enough?
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

Manual depot management allows you to build more depots (if you press AI logistic - it might remove depots that you built!) and use strategies such as stockpiling freight closer to a front, such as Minsk/Kiev for example.
To do this you need to puts this depots on priority 4. AI will not do it for you. I see no reasons to use AI for a depots and for an air war as well. Its not so hard to make few clicks.

The AI automation is good enough. I finished an entire campaign with AI Air and AI Depots pre-release just to make sure it was viable. If you decide you want to learn the logistical system and spend some time on it, it doesn't take long to customize your depots and keep up with adjusting them each turn. It can also give you more control over your logistics, between depot placement and depot and supply priorities. These days, I do mine manually but if I don't have time or patience for that, I know putting the AI in charge will still keep my troops supplied.
