So Microsoft, Sony, Steam, Visa, Master Card, Paypal and many oil companies are suspending operations in Russia.

Matrix/Slitherine have games based on a Ukraine war and should donate profits to Ukraine humanitarian relief. Many other devs as done that.

The 8 year old game "This War of Mine" raised $850,000 in just 1 week so I suggest Matrix/Slitherine do the same.

P.S. You have for sale Combat Mission Black Sea for sale that involves a Ukraine / Russian scenario.

PS.S you actually have it ON SALE on Steam so you are trying to profit off of this war.

Yet those same companies have no problem running operations in China who's actively engaging in genocide of the Uyghurs, destroyed Honk Kong's freedom and covering up the covid19 pandemic that's killed millions. Saudi Arabia is waging a brutal campaign against the people of Yemen yet no boycott of them.

Maybe get a grip.

Slitherine should stay out of geopolitics although they will no doubt come under pressure from the powers that be. Much like these companies and other supposedly independent organizations.

That last line seems unfair. What is Matrix supposed to do with the product - refuse to sell it because it is similar to a real-life situation? It might just help some people not familiar with the Black Sea area to understand some of the challenges Ukraine faces and persuade them to help via personal donation. Businesses do not have unlimited capacity for donations either.

Black Sea area populated by Afghans and Syrians nowadays. Seriously who dominated this area historically, Tatars. Black Sea isn't owned by Ukraine and Russia. I agree with Para87 all said. What about Uygurs. Companies race to add simplified Chinese language to their games.

It's not about morality or justice, it's about choosing a side.

When I say "Its on sale" that means its 30% off until the 7th. To discount it right now makes the optics worse in my opinion.

I'd, personally, prefer Matrix to stay out of politics. We are just here to enjoy games.

Sure, the situation happening now is close to home for many, and some games were made years ago as 'what if' scenarios. Though we play WW1/WW2/Vietnam games etc, that are still recent in history and millions died and were slaughtered.

We have a rule against politics in this forum, which I have to enforce, regardless of personal sympathies. As a company, we also stay out of politics and focus on strategy games and the games that help with the study of military history. Our owners and staff are of course free to make personal donations according to their preferences. We will also not be using an event like this as a marketing tool.

Regards,

- Erik
