Resolution change makes text unreadable

When I change resolution the text becomes skewed/granular and unreadable. Uninstalling the game does not reset settings back to normal and there is no Key to reset.

Delete your gamesettings and gamestartsettings files in the /data sub-folder of your installation. That should reset it so that you can try other resolutions.

Same problem here. I'm using ultra wide monitor.
3440x1440. I cant use game in this resolution.
2560x1440. Sometimes it's displaying text correctly, sometimes not. Hit and miss.
I'm currently stuck in 2560x1080 windowed mode, as this is the highest not giving trouble.
Please look into this problem.
I have 3070ti graphics card, monitor roefresh maximum 144hz. (i have checked all refresh rates, and all are the same)

Same here with a 3070 (without TI) and a 60 Hz. UHD screen.
Some resolutions at least fit in the screen (but have terrible font scaling) others suffer from the problem that only a small percentage of the game is displayed on my UHD screen. When changing to windowed mode I can see that the window is 3-4 times as large as the screen.
So far I have not found a usable resolution

Same issue here with 4k screen and GTK 1660. The font scaling is messed up.

Thank you. Please try the steps here first:

Thanks, I also see you have two video cards, one integrated which is below the minimum spec and another dedicated which is above it.

We have one other report with a possible work-around:

"Regardless of what I was setting in the game settings, it was not respecting my choice and kept trying to run off software rendering. Windows 11 allows you to override this in settings, so I went to System>Display>Graphics, and manually added an entry for DW2, and set it to "High Performance", which forces it to use my dedicated GPU. Runs perfectly fine now."

Are you using both your integrated and dedicated graphics at the same time for some other reason? If not, please also try disabling your integrated graphics in your BIOS, if you are comfortable with that.

Also, could you please try deleting the gamesettings and gamestartsettings files in the /data sub-folder of your installation, then re-launching the game to see if that makes any difference?

Just fired it up and zoomed into starting ships and the textures don't look like they loaded properly for them.

is there a way to trigger this to reset so the ships load properly?

That's not a bug, that's the procedural "under construction" texture.

Thanks for quick response, so no ship at the start is completed I take it. Have to wait for them to complete building.

edit: user error false alarm, just had to let time run for a sec and the scout ship completed and looks fine.

Maybe I can help both with a workaround and with troubleshooting this bug: I had the same scaling issues, with font being unreadable at pretty much any resolution and UI elements covering one another. This went away as soon as I turned off Window's UI scaling (which, I might add, is not a permanent solution for me. I have a 4k screen that I usually use at the recommended 300% scaling, and it is not usable without it).

We have a hotfix in the works for that. In the meantime, you don't have to disable all your scaling. The steps here should also resolve it for you:

i use an 3400×1440 Resolution with 144khz, it is unreadable on normal Ui size, but enlarge the UI is not what i want.. Also the ui Windows are slightly off from their Position.. Also it seems i cannot move the camera scrolling down with mouse to the bottom, seems the bottom of the screen is not truly the bottom

Another thing for anyone having problems with distorted text, DW2 seems to display correctly if you have display scaling at 100%.

If like me you dont habitually wear glasses, larger desktop icons and text can make the desktop more usable with display scaling at 125% but unfortunately this makes DW2 display incorrectly.

The work around is to change display scaling to 100% manually before playing as I have to do with Aurora. Microsoft's compatibility options in shortcut properties offer to change display scaling automatically on a per app basis but they simply dont work in my experience.

If anyone does get them to work I would love to know how you did it!

since the Hotfix, Text is readable perfect for me on 3400x1440 but the game itself runs in tiny window which get Smaller with Smaller Resolutions, weirdly enough Windows scaling to 175% works perfect, game fill out whole screen now with 3400x1440 and Text works perfect on All UI scales

Scaling up the UI is the only solution in any game to make things more readable at higher resolutions. Please increase the UI scale in the Game Settings.

Regarding windows being offset, please post a screenshot to show what you are seeing.

This should not be required on any system as long as you are on 1.0.1.6 (or later).
