Even while sitting in the middle of minimum and recommended specs, this game still crashes, i have no lag, combat works fine and i can start off decently enough and get a good economy, i have perfect memory and RAM needed, but after 5 years even less or so, it will randomly freeze and then crash. it happens with every game. hopefully a fix or patch is in the works

There will be an DW2 1.0.1.6 Hotfix update soon. Hopefully that brings more stability to your game.

hopefully, i shouldnt have to spend $500+ in computer upgrades just play this game, when games like total war 2 at max graphics , or stellaris or any other high performance game runs smooth as hell on my system. this game doesnt even have that good of graphics yet it acts like an epileptic lmfao. i just think its poorly optimized is all.

Are there any crash logs in the /data/logs sub-folder of your installation?

Is there any pattern to what you are doing when the crashes happen?

after maybe 2-3 years, zooming out will cause a freeze, then a crash. i get no errors. just dump to desktop.

It's always when zooming out to the galaxy?

Could you check the Windows Event Viewer and look at the Application Logs to see what they think is causing the crash in DW2 when that happens?

Thanks, these all point to the same issue, which is related to GPU detection and the GPU drivers sometimes trying to put the GPU in a lower performance mode or switch to an integrated GPU while DW2 is running.

We are working to fix these issues.

The update today may help with this, the work-arounds in the pinned threads may also help.

how would i do that ? and how would i get a crash dump to show you ?

I applied the settings/display/graphics and manually introduced the DW2 there.

That eased the pain and improved the visuals but frankly I had similar problems after some time when my ship seemed to be in a strange place in space when I zoomed out I got nothing but empty space (and ship disappeared). tried to click on other ships to get to that identified location but same problem occurred over again. So I had to quit. Just for info.

In any case, these things happen after release all the time.
You have prepared a wonderful game for us and I am sure you will figure out the problems in no time.

Im not gonna start it up again until the patch rolls out, that way when i start it up and if its still crashes every 10 minutes il still be under the 4 hour mark and be able to refund it.

right click distant worlds 2/manage/browse local files then data/logs

upload the files there to here.

yeah that folder is empty, as expected.

I don't know what "as expected" means but crashes do locate there, I uploaded my files from there.
interesting that yours are not !

well thats what i ment earlier by no error logs or anything, i just get dumped to desktop, and any errors that should be here arnt.

buddy, I also got dumped back to the desktop but have crash reports at the file I have mentioned.

anyway, hope the upcoming patch solves your issues.

There are two different issues being discussed here. Enricoix, I hope the update will help in your case. If not we are continuing to work on the issues that I sure are causing the crash on your system and we will have a more comprehensive fix soon.

imperialWorldX, I'm trying to find out what's going on with DW2 on your system and that's why I was asking about Windows Event Viewer since DW2 is generating no crash logs for you.

You don't need to send me the log, just go through it and see if you can find at the times that DW2 crashed an entry with some information there. Paste that information into a post here and we'll have a starting point for figuring this out.
