I keep getting suggestions to build more mining stations in astroid belts that allready have mining stations.
For example, I have 7 stations for 1 astroid beld around a gasgiant allready ... .
What is the benefit for having so many stations in 1 belt/field ?

And what is the downside for having so many ? upkeep and buildcost only?

Each mining station cover several asteroids and the game tries to avoid overlapping area of effect.

This is less about having a advantage, and more about having a need for those materials.
Asteroid Belts are the only viable source of Steel in the game. The planetbound sources basically do not exist.

They also give solid Mebnar.

The mining station have a radius which can cover multiple asteroids. However, if you think you already have enough supply. Its better to deny the request.

Is there a way to tell how far this radius extends? I just usually build one per asteroid field...

I think its the blue radius when you click on the station.
