Post your DW2 PC resource utilization

Low resource utilisation all round and janky framerate. Something really not right....
What's your Strategy?

Yes to your first point. Agreed with your last. The utilisation of my pc hardware makes my feel like I'm playing a software rendered game from the early 2000s....BTAxis wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:09 am Out of interest, do you see any difference in performance when turning off various overlays, particularly the location badges, the exploration overlay and the diplomatic overlay? What if you completely turn off the UI (using the button in the bottom right)? I have a feeling there's something in the UI that's causing FPS hiccups.
I found your problem. I have a 6900 XT and I got a similar problem.ClassicAz wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 8:11 am Low resource utilisation all round and janky framerate. Something really not right....

Thanks mate, was aware the GPU underclock was the issue, but was really hoping to have a game fix for this rather then to resort to a fixed clock approach.firemad wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 2:45 amI found your problem. The minimum frequency (clock speed) is the reason why you got a bad FPS. You are running at 500 mhz.
Just use the advanced mode in the Radeon and move the minimum to 100 mhz less then the maximum and bingo you will get an increase in FPS dramatically.
I had to do this for this game at 4k with my 6900 XT because this game doesn't take a lot of ressources.
I had this problem for other game also. I don't know if dev can do anything about it or it's more an AMD issues.
Anyways when you force the minimum the GPU won't throttle and you will always get the best performance out of it but it will consume more power and electricity but who cares ?
Example for myself (my game is off and system is idle when I took the screenshot for my settings):
Agree. I posted my solution in the AMD request help in the technical subforum. Hope dev will fix it too.ClassicAz wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 9:28 pmThanks mate, was aware the GPU underclock was the issue, but was really hoping to have a game fix for this rather then to resort to a fixed clock approach.firemad wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 2:45 amI found your problem. I'm using Radeon Software for setting my GPU but I'm using MSI Afterburner with Riva Tuner Statistic.maggiecow wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:06 am What program are you using to show resources in the OP?
Using Xbox Game Bar (!) I'm showing about 5% CPU utilization and 30% GPU with a 5950 and RTX3090
I had a play with fixing the clock yesterday. It didn't really seem to make a material difference to actual in game performancefiremad wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 6:47 amAgree. I also like SpecialK, which also has very helpful frametime metrics and some other toggleable tweaks:maggiecow wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:06 am What program are you using to show resources in the OP?

I have problem with SpecialK. I got the RGB warning when I started it. Did you do something special ?brucethemoose wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:39 pmI also like SpecialK, which also has very helpful frametime metrics and some other toggleable tweaks:maggiecow wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 9:06 am What program are you using to show resources in the OP?

Xbox game bar also good, it just has a bit less info.

Also everything is so dark with SpecialK. I found in another thread that I needed to enable the HDR in special K and tweak some stuff to see something on my monitor in 4k.
I just saw your screenshot and I wanted to know if you did something special in SpecialK ?![]()
Oh yeah I was in passthrough ! If I didn't touch the HDR it's too dark.brucethemoose wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 8:01 pmSee the image in this post: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 2#p4971062firemad wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 1:55 pmI have problem with SpecialK. Set sRGB bypass to "passthrough," and be sure to use the compatibility specialk config.
TBH I'm not sure about HDR, that may require some additional tweaks.
I would recommend asking in the SpecalK discord or forums, tbh.firemad wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 8:31 pmOh yeah I was in passthrough ! I checked the specialk config.
I don't understand what exactly that I need to add ?
I tried with or without (not sure if I added the right stuff) and I didn't see anything different
I've a 6800xt, it appears disabling fixedtimestep rendering has unlocked quite a bit of framerate for me.firemad wrote: Sat Mar 19, 2022 1:53 pmOhClassicAz wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:22 pmI had a play with fixing the clock yesterday. well it's depend of the GPU of my AMD. I have a very powerful one so I guess if you are in the lower or middle end it won't matter for my fix.
