Hello folks.

I am just starting my first game and the infomation overload is quite overwhelming.

I have read through some of the helpful threads in this forum but have a few questions.

I'm playing Coral Sea.

1. How do I get the engineers working. All it seems to enable me to do is move the land units.

2. When sending out task forces - do I have to wait until they get to the designated hex or can I reroute them?

3. Several bases are in the red as far as support goes. The only way I seem to be able to get the supplies to them is via C47. I have a supply convoy at Noumea but it says "docked" - perhaps because it is loading, but I'm not exactly sure. How do I get the supplies rolling fast?

Finally, has anyone made up a turn "checklist" so that a newbie like me doesn't forget anything crucial? If so can you please share it?

Once you have engineers at a base, you click on the base itself on the map. Then on the base screen, towards the top, there are some toggles that say expand port, expand airfield, build fortifications. Click on those to tell the engineers what you want them working on. All the engineers in the base will then work on those projects.

TFs can be rerouted at any time by simply choosing a new destination. Be careful to set your Air combat TFs to "Do not react" if you're the Allies - otherwise they may go charging into Rabaul's land based air range and get pounded...

To get your supply convoy going, tell it to load supplies/troops/fuel/whatever and choose a destination hex. The convoy will load (takes a few days depending on what and how much) and then proceed to the destination. Supply doesn't increase support however. You need base units and headquarters to do that. There aren't ever enough though, so you will often have forward bases where there are more troops than support. This isn't fatal as long as you get as much support as possible.

Finally, I recommend reading through the FAQ thread and visiting Spooky's site. Both are excellent resources. Also, reading AARs can help you with some basic strategies that many players use for both sides. And don't hesitate to post Qs on the forum either.
