Hi,

in my first playthrough I had Troop Recruiting on automatic (default options) and in the mid game I had more than 100 hundred recruited (although expensive ones) which ruined my economy completely.

Perhaps a bug?

You can reduce the number of troops the automation builds by adjusting your maintenance settings in the funding levels tab. The amount of money allocated to troops governs how many of them will be built overall.
