Is this stand alone OR like Afghan 11 buy and it shows up in steam?

I am looking at getting this....

If you buy it here Matrix will toss in a Steam key when the game comes to Steam on March 17.

You'll still be able to play the game if someone hacks your Steam account, and your money will be split two ways instead of three.

I think supporting Matrix is always the way to go. Steam is a great platform, but they're not as devoted to nurturing developers as Matrix is.
