Okay tried some variations and couldn't find a working one ...

That found spacestations and ships are protected with AUTODESIGN and RETROFIT set to MANUAL

because they would just upgrade or better downgrade to my last spacestation design

1) When I click on that overtaken design and say upgrade it REPLACES all the better parts with the scrap I have
SO NOT WORKING

2.) When I do a COPY of that , it is possible to replace only the slots I want , I even could save that design, with the tech I don't have
BUT could not retrofit or upgrade the oldstation to that new one

WE NEED AN OPTION in the ship designer to UPGRADE a station, but keep the items we want ... it is like COPY DESIGN, but when you click that , the original item, gets an option that it could be upgraded to that version !

Or is there any shortcut, which is doing it ?
I have now the original spacestation , and in the ship designer the blueprint of it and the changed version , to which I want to update the old one !

I think you got a automatically created, manual design for each Abandoned ship you take over.
But it is not a buildable one, so naturally the default filter will not show it.

I never looked for spaceports and never tried to modify one, however.

That is already here ... but when you try to UPGRADE that , it changes all slots to your own crap items ...

Copy as New
then Edit

has the superb side effect, that you still can't upgrade the spaceport, because you can't build all components

So I would somewhat second this.

If I remember correctly you couldn’t go this in DW:U and it somewhat irked me.

If you find a ship/station you should be able to added or remove modules. This way you can tac a survey module onto a salvaged cruiser and give yourself an early long range explorer…

If this is already in, but I simply haven’t found the right method then any help would be appreciated!

I came here looking for a solution to this problem.
