Which ships hull for which ships role?

If, as stated in this post (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6#p4971536), the ship roles "attack", "close escort" and "picket" essentially mean inner ring, second ring and outer ring respectively, then, how do you use those roles in your fleets? What role do you assign to which hull?
- In the early phase of the game?
- In later phases of the game?
- Do you use escorts (hull) in your fleet, and if so, do you assign them the escort role or the picket role?
