Old habits from DWU

I really really miss the ability to order a station, or something, to be built somewhere without having all the resources ready.
After 80 hours of play. I am missing it.
First I thought it was just a habit from DWU that I needed to drop - there is just so much to love about DW2, I don't really mind the ship queuing thing or the UI differences, or ship design changes. It is a different game and these are big differences but they do add a lot, even if they take away.

However, being able to order a station or something to be built somewhere regardless of resources was something that I really enjoyed and that structured my gameplay in a big way.
Establishing what I wanted in maybe a slightly dodgey place and then making sure the needed resources got there, or maybe planning to do so and then building out the supply lines so that I could later, was something that was a big part of my game loop, and planning risk/reward process.
I suppose it added tension and made for a good opportunity to add a sub-goal that felt real and manifest in the game. Also good for role-play.
Anyway, I haven't seen this mentioned so maybe it is just me, but just in case it is not just me I mention it. because for me this is the biggest change I think. And it seems to just be a subtraction without an addition.

Now, the fact that I am not going back to DWU as my main game is testament to just how great a job the team has made of DW2, it is my desert-island game. It is indeed DWU only better - which is a huge accomplishment.
But this one change is the thing, that for me, makes it a completely different game.

Now that I have written this I am sure someone is going to embarrass me by pointing out how you can do this - that would be great if I have missed an option or something.

Just to clarify, by somewhere you are describing a new new colony or a privously independent population ?

I miss old UI from DW1. In DW1 I could command my fleets from galaxy view without issues. I could see all resources in explored systems.

I'm finding that much of the old ui functions can be done with the left side panel now. I can send fleets anywhere I want with the fleet tab open.

What I find odd is they forgot the send your fleet back to the defined homebase. I seriously cant find how to do this without clicking the home base in the fleet, click the planet/station w/e. Find the fleet in the fleet window and click the object to go there. such a hazzle

Send a fleet to its home base.
Send a fleet to attack any enemy target NOT in your direct view.
Build a colony ship.

;)

Most of my fleets are on automatic running down space pirates and space monsters so #1 isn't a issue for me.

#2 just takes moving the galaxy view around since open tabs on the upper left menu will stay open.

#3 is easy. Open colonization tab and pick the planet you want colonized and hit the build colony ship button.

I think the UX in DW2 is a lot worse than universe

1. For now automatic fleets fight vs. other empires poorly.
2. Searching for desired target takes some time. Zooming in/out, searching for a specific target. Also system view in below middle can't help if the system has lots of stations.
3. Building colony ships beforehand and save time?

I mean being able to start the construction of a station without having all the resources in advance. The change was described as
"Ship and Base Construction will now only commence once all required resources are available. This prevents incomplete construction waiting for resources to be delivered."
I did wonder in advance how much this would change the game for me, turned out that due to my DWU playstyle it is probably the biggest change for me. Probably a lot of people like it though.
