Mining Ship Problem

Why does a mining ship need a large mining module? Since it does not take advantage of it.
I put (2x)small mining modul on my escort ship, and send him mining to same asteroid belt where my mining ship is active.
Both ships from the same distance drills the asteroid, and only produce the contents of 1 asteroid, even though there are several asteroids in range (mining ship using large mining modul). It’s okay to drill just one, but then at least do it from a distance.(T1 Large Mining Modul range 2500m).
And the best thing about a mining ship is that he doesn’t care about his own fuel range. (automatic design/retrofit).
A 100-year journey goes smoothly without retrofit ... of course while on a trip I am forced to use another ship for mining, since everyone joins the trip, two out of five tend to just retrofit themselves..
