I have the Automated 3rd Defense Fleet. Frigattes, 909 Combat Power
I have a large group of Vordikar, 5046 Combat Power.

The large group is marked as target.
The Fleet that has less then 1/5th the combat power tries to attack.

I just need some fleet in range and firepower to mark that.
This does not mean each fleet does not have to check for valid math on their own!

Okay, now things just got wierder.
They are no longer just following the order sucidally - they ask to be allowed to suicide themself.

I have sensor data of Mortakosh in the Malastari System
The 3rd Defense Fleet - still only 913 Combat Power - is asking if it could "Investigate Reported Threaths". As those threaths do not list a combat power value, that is propably whythey try to suicide.

They should pay you for all the QA work you've done for them.

I had the same issue with a rescued 1k power carrier that in Defence fleet mode would suicide into 5k Vordikar. And i have the AI set to 1.5 times overwhelm strategy.

I would not have minded to be in the Beta team. A lot more might have been found, reported and potentially diagnosed.

Unfortunately the bug seems to be that the relative combat power is not even considered. So the overmatch factor - or plain, sane non-suicide - is not realy doing anything.

Same thing happened to me. There seems to be something very wrong because as the fleet was going down in number, they still attacked the Vordikars, without even attempting to flee (tactical setting "Retreat When 100% greater). Even the last ship didn't try to escape, to finally explode like the rest of the fleet.

That can't be right.

I'm pretty sure this is because space monsters are not in fleets? So the fleet is technically stronger than each individual (or within the retreat parameters) monster. It doesn't consider that all these seperate entities are together. So it's like 900 vs 500? Ok. 900 vs 600? Ok. 900 vs 1100? Ok. All the while it's getting torn apart.

My advice is to identify any vordikar systems, and manually deal with them since the AI handles Gravilex much easier, and it behaves basically as expected against AI fleets as well.

The List under Military -> Dangerous Locations properly identified the danger as being 5k.
The fleets retreat stance is all about dealing with the disconnect betweeen Single Ship and FLeet power.

The issue is that this is run as a "Investigate Danger" Task, which ignores combat power.

When the fleet is at full power (all ships present and able), your hypothesis might make sense. But once there's only 1 ship left in the fleet, it's power rating is the power rating of that lone ship. At that point (well before in fact), the "fleet" should retreat, because it's facing opponent many times more powerful than it is.

Yeah, the AI retreats all the time when faced with destruction, saving some ships. Wonder why this AI is not used.
