Ship weapon classes

I've tried creating fleet of say frigates with a set of 5 missile frigates,5 PD frigates & 5 beam frigates designed , building them individually as the builder only does this from classes and they will build the last modded class in this case beams.

Same goes for updating the fleet to newer designs , when you send them to up updated they all turn into the last design again in this case beam frigates...i want to upgrade the missile frigates to the better tech missiles not change their roles to beam frigates

Anyone know how to stop this from happening so i can have a structured fleet as i want them ??

Only one role is supported per class atm :(

You can do this if you manually manage the ship composition of your fleets. In the initial release, the automated templates and automated fleet ship management allow you to specify one design per role (i.e. escort, frigate, destroyer). That can be any specific design or by default the latest but it can't be more than one. We plan to add support for multiple designs per role in fleet templates in the future.

See the Fleet Templates for where this is set so that you could for example have a fleet template for Missile Frigates and another for Beam Frigates, but mixing three types of frigates within one fleet would require manual management.
