Nebula performance

Whenever I zoom out to the region of galaxy with nebulae in view I get a very noticeable increase in GPU temperature, around 60c, but nothing terrible. However when I zoom in on a nebula more, like a system zoomed view, the temperature rockets to 70+c in seconds with the card's fan curve hitting max. Does the game cause this to happen for anyone else? And is there anyway to reduce the load on my GPU when it comes to nebulae?
My graphics card isn't new, an NVIDIA Titan X, but it very easily beats the minimum requirements.

If anyone knows of a way to reduce the GPU load with nebulae I would be extremely grateful!

Hello,
same for me. I don't like it either. A static nebula would be totally sufficient.

Tom

Does it still do the Gpu spike and problem with the lighting in the nebula for you? I also have the latest update as of march 3rd 2023 and My game completely stutters and lags when the lightning strikes inside nebulas.. I have a 1660 ti video card.. 6GB of video ram etc..

I have version 1.1.1.1 and there is no spike at all.
It really runs very smooth (for me, now).
I had the biggest universe and it runs very good.
In the nebulas I watched the flashes, they seem to be very reduced.
There are no gpu demanding nebulas any more.

Just Testet with 1.1.1.1 ....
Still horrible FPS in Nebula ...... (better than at launch ... but a long way to go)
The engine is an joke for the gpu-usage<>gfx that its show today ....

I have just rolled 1.1.1.1 back to Aurora in my newly started Aurora game, since my GPU started throttling up and getting 80-90% usage and temps above 80 degrees C. Not really sure why it started, but I'm back to Aurora and the GPU is back to normal.

Played around today with 1.1.0.9 and 1.1.1.1 trying to see if there is any difference and I can get both versions to use a lot of GPU by zooming around the nebulas. Started a fresh save in 1.1.0.9 and recorded it with MSI Afterburner reporting GPU usage, GPU temp and FPS. Loaded the same save in 1.1.1.1 and it looks very alike.
I can upload it to YouTube if it could help anybody?!

yea - have seen no difference in 1.1.0.9 and 1.1.1.1 ....
same silly high gpu usage for a simply cloud, a couple of textured spheres (planets) and for today standards low poly modells (ships) ......
The engine sucks in every way it is possible ........ (very low performance - manny bugs and problems)
(and not that the gpu usage without "in" an nebula is "acceptable" for the GFX today ....... but here it is playable)

I would say this would help a lot of people:
- Option to disable Nebulas
- Option to disable Help text (or set a delay, configurable in seconds)
- Option to disable Star Background (or slider like in DW1)
and as an extra special:
- Option to configure the Distance between the stars
- Option to configure the Distance of Objects around the sun (greater than 1)

@rxnnxs
this musst be an joke ..... i hope ...
sure ... i can get nice performance if i get back to C64 GFX .....
but we are 2023 ....
DW2 have 2005 top GFX in 2023 and the only solution you have, is to make it even worse ...
I would say the better path would be to optimize the engine (or select an other engine from start ... but thats to late)

Hi R_TEAM
I think we all get your point, since you have made it very clear how you feel about the game and its engine
I'm sure the devs would make the easy fix if it was easy to do
Lets see if they come around to do something about this along the road.
