What's new

Watching the preview shows on YouTube and I am impressed. I see all of the game mechanics that I remember from DW 1940 and don't see much that strikes me as new. This is a good thing. Is there anything fundamentally new? Congratulations on the impending release of this new game.

My perspective about the game differences (not the engine)

- more movement and need for accurate recon in the large steppe environment vs the more linear back and fort coastal movement
- the type of operational problems are wider than in DW: large encirclements, breakout from bridgeheads, city fight (for the 500m/hex scenarios) that require different approaches
- larger tanks battles :)
- very asymmetric strategies for the Red Army vs the Axis

I’m very anxiously waiting for the 31st. Governato mentioned asymmetric strategies between Soviet and Axis units. Can you go address what this might be? I’m very curious how the game addresses two very different tactical and operational doctrinal systems.

This is a good question with a long answer that I will shorten to the bare essence. The German player will find it easier to conduct combined arms operations than the Soviet player--especially with armor organizations. The German and Soviet players will think the Luftwaffe is WAY more flexible/effective than the Soviet Air Force. Though both are severely constrained, the German player would like to have the Soviet's logistics system. These several conditions drive how each player plays the game differently from the other.

Id just like to verify that it will have the same map and scenario editors DW had.

Hi, yes, has the same Map and Scenario Editor, so you can make your own scenarios!
