Cashflow - revisited

I posted before about having a negative cashflow, but my cash balance continued to climb at a healthy rate. Some helpful responses suggests this was probably due to bonus income, which is difficult to consistently account for. Other advice suggested the negative cashflow was still not a good position because nothing was being allocated to excess expenses - colony growth or research.

Now every thing is flipped. I have a health positive cashflow and now my cash balance is slowly bleeding away. I'm sure there's a logical explanation.

It is really difficult to try to meaningfully influence your empire when the key indicators that are being reported are infathomable! Cause and effect, while I am sure they exist, are not transparent.

As usual, any advice is appreciated.

two words : automatic retrofit.

as soon, as you have enough money, the automation spends it on retrofitting a base or a ship.

Cashflow is impossible to calculate exactly because what we see is calculated on yearly basis and based upon current month expenses and income, we have no idea how the following months will develop due to said bonus income and expenses caused by automation.

One thng that was not mentioned is resort bases and tourism, as soon as you build first few your cash balance will skyrocket almost instantly, I noticed tourism is not reported on balance chart as a separate thing.

I'm not sure if building facilities is reported either, not sure.

I think building facilities is not reported.

Reports of finished constructions or jobs is really underreported in the game.

Tourism is accounted for as Bonus Income, not regular Budget.
