If you are still having issues on DW2 1.0.2.8 with either a black screen at startup, a startup crash, DW2 using the wrong GPU on your system or the GPU operating in low power/performance mode while DW2 is running, we have a new tool we would like you to try.

Here's how to use it:

1. Download the tool from this link: https://we.tl/t-iIe8bYG7dC

2. Unzip it and put the D2StartRelease.exe in the installation directory for Distant Worlds 2 on your system.

3. While still in the installation directory, double-click on D2StartRelease and it will launch Distant Worlds 2 for you.

Please note, you may have to make sure your anti-virus/security software has excluded the DW2 installation directory and the executables there to make sure it allows this tool to work.

Please report here and let us know if launching DW2 through D2StartRelease makes any difference in the issues you are experiencing.

Hi Erik,

It appears to work at the start menu for a time and then slips back into a lowish power mode by the time the game loads a save.

Please let me know what data you will need to further diagnose.
