SOLVED - 1.06.3 - Carrier Interdiction does not log Naval Air Interdiction done

Surface Interdiction and Carrier Interdiction are working the same way. If a land based plane is in range, it will do a Naval Air Interdiction against the enemy surface fleet then a Surface Interdiction if there is no CV or a Carrier Interdiction if there is some CV around.

In the case of a Surface Interdiction, the Combat Logs window is correctly showing first a Naval Air Interdiction.

Then, still in the case of a Surface Interdiction, the Combat Logs window will show a Surface Interdiction. In this case, this is working fine.

But, in the case of a Carrier Interdiction, the Combat Logs window is not showing first a Naval Air Interdiction. It is showing directly Carrier Interdiction without adding the logs of the Naval Air Interdiction done.

This is a bug. Naval Air Interdiction log must be shown both for Surface Interdiction and Carrier Interdiction.

I'm not following. If CV interdicts it is a CV interdiction log.
If land based air interdicts it is a naval air log.

In the case of a Carrier Interdiction, land based planes are also flying. I have tested it many times. Looks like they are doing a Naval Air Interdiction that is not even counting (combat logs and perhaps losses done).

And just to add, this is perfectly logical that a Naval Air Interdiction is triggered during a Carrier Interdiction, such as the Surface Interdiction, if there are land based planes in range.

Look at the historical example: Midway.

There were bombers in Midway and the US carrier fleet was waiting. The Japanese CV fleet shows up and is detected, Midway did launch all its bombers (the Naval Air Interdiction) and then the USA CV fleet did launch some air strikes (the Carrier Interdiction).

So, I would like:
1. That the Naval Air Interdiction is displayed in the Combat Logs window (sure about that)
2. That the losses done by the Naval Air Interdiction is indeed counted (not sure about that since I don't have the logs of 1.)

I'm still not following.

Land based air creates a log on interdiction or air strikes. So does CVs. They have each a different title.

At last, I think I have find out.

After many tests, I came to the conclusion that if a Naval Air Interdiction mission does not take casualties (on friendly flying planes) AND does not inflict losses (to enemy ships), this mission won't be log in the Combat Logs window.

You mean if it doesn't find the anyone? Of course. Nothing to report.

All right, so let's clarify something.

Ships have unlimited attempts to try to intercept an enemy fleet. No operation points consumed until there is a successful naval interdiction.

In the Combat Logs window, they have detected an UFO but that's all.

And, for planes, they find nothing. This is not in the Combat Logs window. And they are consuming operation points for nothing. Because they have two attempts to find something or nothing. After the planes won't flight anymore during the turn.

So, on the one hand, ships have unlimited attempts to try to intercept an enemy fleet, planes have limited attemps (i.e. two) to try to intercept an enemy fleet.

But, if I am quoting you here:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 7#p4982187
There is a difference between actively sending a bomber force to attack a target that you see

AND

your search planes NOT seeing the target at all.

Missed interceptions means the target wasn't even spotted.
So then, why planes are spending operation points for blind search planes?

So the issue is planes are using Opts missing a target AND it isn't being recorded in the records.

You are correct they should be spending and their should be a log.

I'll add it to the list.

Thank you Alvaro, can't wait for the next patch. ;)

After several testing, I am considering this fixed. Thank you Alvaro, this is really a game changer. No more the possibility to waste the enemy planes' operation points by sending a single DD group.
