Spaceport question

In DW:U it wasn't advisable to place spaceports at every world as it tended to spread your resources too thin but I've seen people suggest that you do build spaceports at every world in DW2. Anyone know if there are downsides to doing that?

I always built a small space port on every colony in DWU for the economic and happiness bonuses and never had issues with the costs or resource shortages and they came in quite handy for a massive parallel build to quickly build up fleets.
I'm doing the same for DW2 for the same reasons and also because now a ssp will give a research bonus along with the others.

same here, though I used a massive spaceports on my homeworld and most populated worlds, which could produce whole fleets on their own

I would tend to build one per sector or so, each planet doesn't need a spaceport just a custom base with the recreation, medical and commerce equipment along with some defensive capability.
I haven't played enough of DW2 yet but there seems to be less freedom in designing ships and bases, not just size to consider for the template but predetermined slots, so I'll wait out on how it'll work in this one.

How I would do it in DWU is to immediately research the basic medical and recreation modules then setting the new ssp design as the default first build of a new colony. This will build the most basic spaceport with only the minimum parts to be operational and provide the bonuses but still have docking bays and shipyards for better empire build capacity and cargo transfer speeds to and from the planet. These small ports are super cheap to maintain and take only the most basic of resources to build since they have no shields or armor and just the basic racial starting weapon which tend to be good enough vs a random space monster or lone weak pirate and can be quickly funded with just a few transports of material.
In DW2 it seems small ports are just the smallest port design with the medium and large only adding in more capacity but no new functionality. You can still min/max the design to make a basic port that only provides bonuses.
