Navigating the UI - Tips and Tricks

This is NOT a guide. Neither is it a suggestion post.
I am a noob myself, but thought i would post how do I some things in the UI, that works for me.
If it helps you, GREAT. If you have a better way, or more tips, please add.
MOVING FLEETS
In the planet list, I CTRL-# the planets that I would return to most, be it border planets, staging points, construction hubs. Then I can keep the fleet list open, and double tap the relevant # key to select a planet, then right click the planet/port to give the fleet orders. This is a quick way to get to planets to update build lists, or stage fleets for R&R, or other ops.
RE-ARRANGING FLEETS / MERGING
When re-organising my fleets, I might need to move multiple ships from one fleet to another. Go to the military list, for single ships, and set the SORT ORDER to FLEET. Filter to Destroyers (or Frigates). Now you can multi select ships in any fleet, and create new fleets or move ships to other fleets.
RETROFIT USING THE FLEET TEMPLATES
In the fleet template, select the design you want for each role. Apply the template to a fleet, and retrofit the fleet. All ships in the fleet are retrofitted to the specified designs. All my fleets are based on a template. So I only retrofit using fleets. Never single ships.
MANAGING COLONIES
Self-evident, but sort the colonies by Quality, Population or Revenue depending on your objective. Then its easy to select planets at the top or bottom of your list.
KEEPING TRACK OF SPECIFIC FACILITIES
On the COLONY LISTS, Click the facilities button. Filter to the facility you want to manage (e.g. Terraformers, Armor Barracks, Special Forces). When you click the facility, it selects the planet below the Facility List. You can open the planet screen, and manage build queues without zooming to the planet. This is the easiest way to manage specific planets when you have dozens of colonies. (other than using CTRL-#).
AVOID ZOOM / SCROLL
I try never to scroll in/out. It kills my system. I either double tap the CTRL-# key, or double click the fleet, or double click the facility.
