Excited to see how this pans out! I've been wanting a hex based take on the whole Civil War going back to my days with Frank Hunter's American Civil War, so I'm very intrigued. I've never really played any of the SC titles, so I have nothing to go off of, but am I correct in thinking that it looks that manpower is somewhat abstracted? Like a brigade or division just has a strength of 10 or whatever, as opposed to the count of actual soldiers in the unit? Additionally, can any insight be offered into how the organization system, or chain of command works since that was such a big part of the ACW? Thanks in advance, looking forward to learning more about this one

Hi
Yes, there's a certain degree of abstraction so that you can concentrate more on your strategies and moving your forces rather than on micro-managing.
That said, there are significant differences in the combat potential and abilities of different units, and these can be improved via research, e.g. improved training, weapons etc, and their performance will also vary according to which HQ commands them (or whether they even are under a HQ's command). So Confederate units under Jackson or Lee are likely to do better than under say Beauregard or Bragg.
If you want to get a feel for how our overall game system works then there are lots of videos on YouTube, just search for Strategic Command.
We may be able to provide more specifics on some aspects nearer release, but if you like what you see and have some spare time for gaming then feel free to apply for the beta team:

Sounds interesting! I'll check out some of the other SC titles. I had contemplated joining the beta, but I've never beta tested anything before, and am not sure I'd be able to dedicate the time it deserves. Thanks for responding, and I'll look forward to future updates!

I love all of the SC games but if you want to try one I would personally suggest WWII War in Europe as it's my favorite. I am also looking forward to seeing how the system is implemented to handle the American Civil War.
