This is server game vs Stephan61
Fighters from Pskov intercepted planes at gulf of Riga. But that point is out of fighters reach, according to a range circles and planes radius which is 132 miles for yak 1

I think this has come up before. The range being displayed on the air unit detail screen and the purple line being displayed for fighters and fighter bombers is escort range. Max combat range is further (x4/3). so Yak 1 is 177. Still looks a bit long, but I'd need a save to unravel what happened.

Can interceptors use staging bases ?
I had one recently where GS fighters were coming from a very long way away and was wondering if they could use staging bases too ?

Is it possible to add some button so players can switch which range to display? I will become crazy if i have to count hexes for real interception range myself.

I found out that the radius shown on the air unit detail screen for fighter/fighter bomber units depends on the Mission setting of the unit. If set to Bomber, it shows the combat range, and if set to Fighter it shows the escort range. The range circles also reflect this. When showing escort range in the circles, ideally it would show it in green, but currently does not. If you click on a hex with an airfield and no units, you will see purple and green range circles for the units at the base (longest combat range of any a/c at the base in purple and longest escort of any unit set to Mission:Fighter in green). so in this case you might see the escort range (green) and the combat range (purple) for the same fighter unit. I've asked Roger to clarify this in the living manual.
Combat range is 4/3 time escort range. Yes, ideally we'd show both, but for now you have to toggle the mission setting of the unit to have it switch between escort and combat range.
As for interceptors using stage bases, I don't think that happens, but can't guarantee it. In GS, interceptors are just going to the target hex so I would expect it would be a straight range calculation from airbase to target with no checking for stage bases.
