Screen shots on Steam

Is anyone else having trouble getting screenshots via Steam?
Steam seems to override the standard Windows settings and saves screenshots to a dedicated Steam folder, yet the resolution is dreadful. I have resorted to downloading pictures from my phone.
Or is this just another example of my lamentable IT skills
