Can enemy fleets intercept through minefields

In the first turn I moved a UK fleet to 44,34 and a Japanese fleet in hex 43,35 was able to have a surface interdiction and hit the Exeter for 2. I'm also confused because it says Allies Attacking but lists Japanese ships under the "Attacking Ships" and "Attacker Losses" can anyone help explain this to me? Another confusing aspect is the fact a minefield exists between the two fleets. I just started playing the game about a week ago and trying to put all the pieces together.

Surface Interdiction from the Japanese, so the Japanese is indeed attacking you.
This is bug but I was thinking it was already solved.

Just to be sure, did you install the latest V1.00.063 patch?

And, yes, intercepting through minefields should not be allowed.

In my current game my Japanese fleet on the East of the Malayan Peninsular (near Kota Bharu) intercepted an American invasion on the West coast i.e. through the peninsular! Destroyed most of it :-).

Neat trick and my opponent saw the funny side.

I've also been interdicted through the DEI minefield at the beginning of another game

Not aware of this ever being fixed in either game but I was wrong once before...

It has not been fixed. Still working on a simple solution that doesn't suck up CPU time.

Well the last reply clicked something in my head as I looked at the problem this morning.

Solution came to me. All interceptions in normal seas you won't notice a difference.

The delay for the CPU testing the path is almost unnoticeable with 1 enemy fleet in range. With 3 enemy fleets it is probably 1s-2s depending on the CPU. But it isn't game breaking.

It has to test the path to see if it reaches the friendly fleet.

But it does work.
