I have had several issues since I downloaded the game, including not be able to access the game screen without multiple windows refusing to close, but now after downloading the updates the launch screen won't even open! I get an error message saying it can't locate the game

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game?

I used the matrix games site to download, will the download/installation thing still work? I thought there was a time limit

I don't know the answer to that, you'd have to ask the Matrix at support@matrixgames.com and ask them.
