MECH / INF Ratings question

Greetings,
As I've been recently corrected on my knowledge there and discovered that it's more simple than I made it - Mech rating is used for Motorized Units, and Infantry for Non Motorized.
But that has opened up some questions on my end.
- A 'Motorized' Infantry (as per, temporarily motorized) unit what leader rating uses?
A Motorized SU supporting, or attached to a Non Motorized Unit, what leader rating uses? (Germany for instance can turn in a nightmare, with their non visible of yet leg / mot. Pionere units)
A Non Motorized SU attached to a Motorized CU will be considered Motorized?
Originally I thought each element of a unit had its own check depending if it was infantry or mechanized; then I got pointed to the manual by a fellow player ... and dang ... so now I have all these puzzling questions.
Because I am sure I paid 0 attention to let's say Pionere Units or other SU if they were motorized or not, and attached them to some Mech 3 rating German leader in past games too for example. And it can be even more severe as a bucket of German artilleries are motorized and thus potentially fated to underperform badly.

It remains fairly direct.
Motorise a CU then it uses the mech scores, attach a SU to a motorised and it becomes motorised, if the SU is motorised it uses the mech scores.
so a Stug battalion attached to an infantry CU uses the mech score
a non-mot pioneer attached to a Pzr division first becomes motorised and then uses the mech scores

Thanks for the clarifying answer.
Indeed now Axis certainly needs to have SU divided in not motorized and motorized categories. By that I mean in categories and lists when SU are assigned.
Both their engineers and artillery assets are a mixmatch. AA will be a nightmare too.

It doesn't help that approximately 50% of the German pioneer battalions assigned to the Eastern Front were actually motorized.
Whereas in WiTE2, 0% of the pioneer battalions are motorized.
Additionally, WiTE2's naming convention tends to hide or obfuscate the motorization details of an SU.
In contrast, were it to follow a more historical naming, it makes it pretty obvious what SU is motorized.

not really, the Germans have lots of good leaders with high mech and infantry scores.
also worth bearing in mind that a good admin/init score goes a long way to compensate any shortfall in the 2 combat scores

i was always wondering what is more important: morale vs initiative vs inf/mech rating
for example two leaders with a same stats, lets say 6 everywhere with the exception of:
first leader has 4 initiative
second leader has 4 morale
and any other combinations
my guess is that the most important stats are inf/mech rating and then everything else
but it is just my guess

Its so situational, and they all matter.
Crudely the combat scores influence combat (obv) but, admin sets supply state and init sets not just formal reserve reactions and SU commitment but who fires first etc. So a great battle leader with poor supporting values may well find they start the fight less well off than a good management type who is less brilliant in organising an actual battle
thats why the Germans tend to do better, they have both a larger command chain (=both more chance to pass and also chance to balance skills) and more commanders who are good all-rounders. Apart from a few, the Soviet leaders tend to be one or the other (or neither)
