I am curious....since the combat options are really just an exagerated version of 'rock-paper=scissors'

How many of you actually 'pick chits' or simply randomize the decision?

Pick Chit == at least in theory utilize your good commanders
assuming you have one. But, since we all know Nappy can flank,
Cordon exists to stop it.

Randomize == The enemy cant possibly predict what you will do,
thus there is at least a chance of dramatic victory.

I always pick chits. I know it may seem random but I believe that it is also like poker, so it has some skill involved. There are several factors that go into me picking a chit. My factor strength, his factor strength. My leader, his leader. Place of battle (position on the board, type of environment). Whether I feel risky, or should I go conservative. Should I try and reduce the amount of factors killed. Or should I try to increase the amount of factors killed. Do I want the battle to go 3 days, or be over early. Ultimately I think there are a lot of variables that I take into account when chitting.

Also, if you have been playing with the people for awhile, you can learn to read them. So that also helps. :)

Oh, and it just adds a great sense of anticipation and excitement to an already exciting game. :)

There are a lot of factors. Hey, more fun than just an odds table!
