I am new to this game, but I enjoy it a lot!

I read in the manual all the calculations done to estimate the damage to a unit. I find this fascinating! So I am wondering two things.

First, is there a detailed log where I can see why a certain shot did or did not do damage? For instance, was it the angle, or not enough penetration or a missed shot, etc.?

Second, what is the relation between armour and penetration? Is it 1:1? for example, what does a penetration of 300 mean? Is it that it can penetrate 300 mm of armour?

Alas, there is no detailed log.

As for penetration/armour, indeed it is 1/1 ratio. However, several factors influence actual penetration vs. estimated, as you have read in the manual.
