Since this is general discussion anyway....
Activision's title coming out this fall seems interesting for us FPS people. Or at least to me. :p What really catches my eye is that you're supposed to have AI squadmates that actually play
with you instead of running their own game. Also that many scenarios seem to be involving massive amounts of troops.
Hopefully they'll have a decent MP mode as well...

Sounds very interesting! Is there a site where I can learn more about it? Can I carry a flamethrower?

:D

Professor,
Since all major releases these days carry their own website, try with
www.callofduty.com
I'm not sure if it works, but it should.
Another title that seems promising is Hidden and Dangerous 2. WWII FPS game, with a tactical touch! You control a SQUAD, not a single soldier, and switching between first and third person view is reportedly seamless.... hmm... seems like a promising fall. Now we can only hope that CL will make it to the shelves before X-mas and I'm in gamer heaven.
Edit: Flamethrower? Don't know, but if you're itching to use one, download Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory! *woooosh* ha ha ha!

It´s for most of the part the same team that developed MOHAA

. So fun should be assured IMHO.
As for "Hidden and Dangerous 2", Try to get a copy of the old first part. Via Ebay or so. It´s a very thrilling game, played it a lot back then.

Definitely a game I've got to have! I'll probably have to dump some of the Microsoft bloatware they jam into PCs, whether you want it or not to make room on my HD.

My only fear is that they are trying to make a movie out of the game
I just hope gameplay isnt sacrificed

You also dont get to play as the Germans which is a tad dissapointing....
But you do get American, British and Russian sides....and they seem to be going for the teamwork honering the dead approach which is nice

It would be nice if there was an Axis version where you could play the game in a German, Italian, Japanese, or perhaps Hungarian or Finnish squad. Perhaps if enough people were to ask for one, they might make it. Just a thought.

I have sent a querry to Activision as to whether there might be plans for a
Call of Duty for the Axis countries. Once I receive a reply from them, I will post it here. Meanwhile it probably won't hurt for others to send requests for an Axis version in also. [Hint, hint!]

It can't hurt.

We'll see what it's like when it comes out. An axis version would make an excellent add-on, IMO. Just think about the multiplay!

Here is the reply I received from Activision:

Hi Eric,
Sadly, we do not have that kind of information available to our division. We are more of a technical support service for games that have already been released. Check with Activision's website as well as the developer and community websites for updates on the planned features of Call of Duty. Thanks for contacting us and showing an interest in our products. Please feel free to email us again if you have any other questions.

As stated in other forums, a game movie doesn't necessarily reflect in game graphics since FPS doesn't matter when rendering the movie.
BUT - if it's
anything like the E3 showing, I will be impressed. That was some wicked nice effects.

I think its just not 'politically correct' to play the germans in a major WW2 game anymore.

Wolfenstein? Battlefield 1942? Medal of Honor? :p
And it seems CoD will have blood effects...at least I imagined seeing some splatter... will that make it a first for a WWII FPS shooter? The others don't have it without home-made patches, right?

Call of duty looks amazing, so does H&D2, but I think CoD is going to be the better game all around. My clan beta tested H&D and while the core game was great, it had low production values. This time the title is in different hands, so hopefully they will improve that end of the game.

Can anyone tell me who the original developer of Call of Duty is? I've sent a few requests for this info to Activision and they haven't responded. (Except for programmed replies from their PC.)
Thanks!
