Time Out Creating Server Game

I'm trying to create my first server game but it keeps timing out on me. I'd very much appreciate it if someone could point me to the errors of my way(s):

- I go to multiplayer and log in
- Press New Challenge and select the scenario
- Set game options and then press Create.

After doing this all, I see something load, something save, and then it goes to a Create Challenge progress window which then just sits there. I get the occasional flicker, and then another couple more attempts with the Create Challenge progress window. I then get a notification that the operation has timed out.

Tanks!

if you can not create it, then ask your opponent to make it

Thanks for testing it, Stamb. Now I know it's me. I may have to do as you suggest if I can't figure this out. Hmm, anti-virus or firewall seem like good places to start.

I was finally able to create a game. After ruling out anti-virus and firewall, I bypassed wifi and went straight ethernet to my router. I assume my wifi connection just isn't fast enough to create a game before it times out. Now the question is can I play a server game with my "slow" wifi connection or will I have to be plugged in.

Just in case this happens to anyone else, here's why one may have a hard time creating a server game due to it timing out.

In my router (and probably yours), there's a section to set max upload and download wifi bandwidth by device. Set the max upload for your PC too low and the Matrix server gets tired of waiting and farts on ya... at least I believe that's the technical term. Up the bandwidth or in my case just delete the whole entry and everything works just as it should.
