best priority levels for port to port

In the manual it says :-
Export Port supply priority 3 to Import Port priority 2.
Is this right? It might makes more sense if it were priority 2 to 3.
so could someone please confirm best settings please.

I think the manual says pretty much the exact opposite - I certainly hope so.
Its the same rule as everywhere, depot-depot transfers depends on the receiving depot being at a higher priority to the sending one.
There is a very useful quirk, a pri1 export port gets supply in a special phase (ie it gets freight regardless of the wider priorities) so your exports can be #1 (unless there is a really good reason) and your imports 2 or 3 - thats handy as then you can set up a secondary network leading out from the import port to the front (if you have a rail net)

So am I right in assuming, judging by the kind replies, that its :-
Export Port LOW priority ------> to Higher priority Import . (eg . level 2 to level 3)
If so this makes sense ,but it contradicts what the manual says.

where does it say this - if so its wrong and something we can/should correct in the Living Manual
but I've done a search and can't find what you are saying anywhere

Hi Loki
I`ve been re-reading my physical manual and I can`t find it either. P307 definitely says low to high though.
Sorry, I must have missread it - mia culpa.
p.s I know it`s not historical but can we please have Luftflotte 2 to remain in 41-45 scenario. ( if only for game mechanics reasons ) If, if I remember correctly that HG stays on map during the 42-45 campaign

Wouldn't a priority 2 export port work just as well?

@tiger111 - thanks for double checking, there are mistakes in the manual that we missed, sometimes a late rule change sometimes just sloppy drafting so it could have said that in one place.

very situational. In the main a #1 will pull the freight you need, say a German Baltic port or one of the Soviet ones on Lake Ladoga. The advantage then is feasibly you have up to 3 tiers on the other side of the link. Whether this is worth it is another question but its just about possible that the Soviet player wants to use Leningrad to feed say Talinin so 1, Osinovets 2, Leningrad 3, Talinin 4 at least sets up the chain.
Equally say Riga at 2, allows some sort of on wards depots in Latvia/Estonia.
I think the axis need Constanta at 2.
There is a routine that supplies an export port before others in its notional priority group also usually the amount that can be sent on is relatively limited due to lack of ships.
But no reason not to use 2, just that 1 often does the job as well

Keep the port priorities as low as possible. They get freight before every other depot, so if you set your export to 3, and import to 4, those two ports will suck up an inordinate amount of rail freight.
