.. except Germany doesn't even reach the Somme. Is this normal?

Yeah, it is the biggest balance issue with the game right now. Most players now house rule limiting the number of units the UK can send to France. The next update is supposed to address this.

CW just has nothing else to do than to ferry to France. And the scenario rule that dooms Italy to be passive until Paris falls is compounding the situation. Also, there are no other theatres the CW has to care for due to the scope of the map.

I am testing with one player now...
France can not build any air.
UK can send 5 Corps (15 divisions) and 1 HQ to France and build only 1 air superiority group before the attack.
Their air can move there though if desired.
Will see how that goes but suspect it will go fine for the Germans.
But have to hold them until August / September or that is an issue also.
But yes...BIG BEF is a huge issue for many players.
I have seen it get wiped out though also...so it is not a 100% deal breaker but it does make the attack much more costly than it should.
