Blockading Ports

I cannot find anything in the manual regarding blockading supply coming into ports (anchorages). Is this possible and if so how is it done?
Thanks.

Supply broadcast does not cross deep water. Nor is there any facility to carry supply across deep water. Anchorages have no supply effect. A designer may place a Supply Point in an anchorage, in which case it will function normally until enemy units occupy its location.

As Bob mentioned, the supply engine does not support blockade effects.

You can achieve a partial effect with events and some creative map editing. Naval units stationed at key locations ("blockade stations") can trigger supply level reductions or, more directly, the reduction or elimination of a supply point located in that port. Friendly naval units could sortie out to attack the blockaders. But the entire scenario would have to be designed around this, else the organic supply rules would simply defeat the effects of the blockade.

I experimented with an actual system of blockade in Nation in Conflict, but found that it required way too many events to cover all the Confederate ports. In the end I just decided to go with an abstract solution. Choose a Theater Option, some Union warships are withdrawn, and the overall Confederate supply level goes down.

But it can be done.

As noted there are things you can do. I suggest placing the supply point in the deep water hex adjacent to the anchorage. If an enemy naval unit is in the hex it'll block the supply point entirely. This isn't really compatible with rail supply however, so you'll only get good supply immediately in the port

Can you put a rail hex into the deep water hex that connects to the land rail system?

You can certainly put it in the hex. The question is whether it would go to "broken rail" when an enemy unit moves into the hex. If so it will probably not be possible to repair it.

Wouldn’t the automatic R/R repair feature restore the rail?
Otherwise, you will always have the option of setting the chance of rail destruction to zero.
